Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Habitat for Humanity Lakeside. There are many ways to volunteer to help Habitat provide simple, decent shelter in partnership with people in need.

Volunteer Opportunities

Construction

You don’t need to be an experienced builder to work on a Habitat house. While we do require some experienced or professional workers to serve as crew leaders and teachers, we are happy to have anyone, regardless of skill or ability, as long as they are ready to work and willing to learn.

Worksite Volunteer Opportunities

• Crew leader – Supervises and teaches a group of 4-5 inexperienced volunteers on the build site.

• General volunteer – Provides general construction labor and works under the supervision of a crew leader.

Note: Worksite volunteers must be at least 16 years old and have parental consent to participate.

• Site host – Greets volunteers, assists with making sure waivers are signed and provides general orientation information.

• Lunch host – Individual or group that donates, prepares, delivers and serves lunches to worksite volunteers.

Habitat ReStore

The Habitat ReStore is a building materials reuse and surplus store whose mission is three-fold: To provide low cost building materials to shoppers, reduce the amount of building materials going to area landfills and to use profits to support the building of Habitat homes in Sheboygan County. Please visit our "Habitat Restore" page for more information about the Habitat ReStore.

ReStore Volunteer Opportunities

• General volunteer – Duties include cashiering, helping customers find items, cleaning donated items, stocking and organizing shelves and helping to pick up donations around the community.

Committees

Habitat for Humanity Lakeside is completely operated by volunteer committees. The various committees work together to help organize builds to help more people in Sheboygan County obtain simple, decent and affordable housing. All of these committees welcome people to assist with the behind-the-scenes work of Habitat for Humanity Lakeside.

Committee Volunteer Opportunities

• Building Committee – Plans and oversees building projects.

• Site Selection Committee – Researches and searches for affordable land to build upon or homes to renovate.

• Family Selection Committee – Processes applications for Habitat homes and makes partner family recommendations to the Board of Directors.

• Family Partnering Committee – Provides mentoring to partner families during the building process and offers continued homeowner education to homeowners.

• Volunteer Committee – Coordinates volunteers for build sites and committees.
